Debt Can Wreck Your Heart Health

The New York Times today has an article with this headline: "Stress May Be Your Heart's Worst Enemy." That reminded me of something published in June 2020 at verywellmind.com.

"According to the American Psychological Association (APA), money is the top cause of stress in the United States. In a 2015 survey, the APA reported that 72% of Americans stressed about money at least some of the time during the previous month.1

"The majority of the study participants reported money being a significant source of stress, with 77% feeling considerable anxiety about finances."

Compared to other high stress life events--like death of a family member--debt problems for most people are easy to fix.

As a bankruptcy lawyer I talk to so many people who for years drag around debts they can never pay off, before they take advantage of the fresh start offered by the bankruptcy law. Bankruptcy can take care of your debts; and take care of your heart.
