Lauren Friend McKelvey is the newest Chapter 7 bankruptcy trustee in Alexandria.

There are four Chapter 7 trustees in the Alexandria Bankruptcy Court. (That court serves all of Northern Virginia, including Woodbridge and all of Prince William County.)

She's a partner in Reitler, a New York-based law firm that focuses on business law for "emerging companies." She's also a director of Freedom Bank of Virginia and served as general counsel of a successful financial tech start-up.

Chapter 7 trustees around here deal mainly in routine consumer bankruptcies, so her business credentials are surprising. Maybe she expects Federal cutbacks will lead to more interesting business bankruptcies.
