November Elections Promise Relief for People with Student Loans

Right now, bankruptcy law is almost no help for people with student loans. https://robertweed.com/tag/does-bankruptcy-help-with-student-loans/.

After the November 2020 election that could change. The Democratic platform promises to change the law to make student loan bankruptcy like any other debt. https://democrats.org/where-we-stand/party-platform/providing-a-world-class-education-in-every-zip-code/. The Republican platform doesn't mention it. (Actually the Republicans have no platform at all. https://prod-cdn-static.gop.com/docs/Resolution_Platform_2020.pdf.

Obviously, this depends on former Vice-President Joe Biden being elected. https://www.cnbc.com/2020/08/21/what-joe-biden-would-do-for-student-loan-borrowers.html. To get it done quickly, he'd also need a big majority in the US Senate.
